After years as in-house counsel at one of the world’s largest tech companies, where I often had to oversee layoffs and terminations (even of friends), I realized I wasn’t finding meaning in my work. I saw firsthand how employees sacrificed so much for their jobs, only to be treated unfairly when things went wrong.
I started Thrive Law because I believe everyone deserves to thrive—not just survive—in their careers. Who I Am
I’m Saad Mirza, the founder of Thrive Law, a employment law firm dedicated to helping employees across Ontario navigate challenging job terminations and workplace issues. With over a decade of legal experience spanning corporate law, employment disputes, and commercial transactions, I’ve had the privilege of working with individuals and businesses at every level. But my journey to founding Thrive Law wasn’t just about building a career—it was about finding purpose.
My career began after earning a Bachelor of Administrative Studies from York University and completing my law degree at the University of Bedfordshire in the UK. Over the years, I’ve worked as in-house counsel for one of the world’s largest tech companies, where I managed complex legal matters and saw firsthand how employees often bore the brunt of corporate employment practices. That experience inspired me to create a firm that prioritizes people over profits.
Why I Started Thrive Law
Thrive Law was born out of my desire to make a difference. After years of working in corporate environments where I often had to oversee layoffs and terminations—even involving friends—I realized something was missing: meaning. I wanted to help employees reclaim their rights and dignity in the face of unfair treatment. At Thrive Law, we’re not just lawyers; we’re advocates who understand what it’s like to feel powerless at work. Our mission is simple: to help you thrive, not just survive.
Beyond the Law
Outside of my legal practice, I’m a proud father of seven children who inspire me every day. In my free time, you’ll find me coaching basketball as part of The Basketball Collective, where I help young players develop skills both on and off the court. Having lived in five countries and seven cities, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for diverse cultures and languages—I speak Urdu, Arabic, Punjabi, Hindi, and French.
I also love cooking, traveling, and connecting with people from all walks of life. Whether it’s through mentoring young athletes or advocating for employees facing tough situations, I aim to bring positivity wherever I go.
